How to use your secure tax document upload portal.
You've been invited to use a secure online portal powered by Automate with Cass. This portal lets you send your tax documents quickly and safely to your tax professional.
This guide explains what the portal is, how to use it, and what to do if you get stuck.
Your upload portal is a secure page created just for you. With it, you can:

Your checklist may look a little different, but common items include:
Always check the checklist inside your portal – it is customized for your situation.
Click the secure link sent to you by your tax professional. It will open in your web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Make sure the welcome message and portal information match your name or your tax firm's name. If something looks wrong, contact your tax professional.
You will see a list of documents that have been requested. Each item will update as you upload files. Some items may be marked optional.
You can usually:
You can upload photos, scans, or PDFs. You can send one file at a time or multiple documents in separate uploads.
Your portal will show something like "3 of 7 documents uploaded". Items that are complete will show a check mark or "uploaded" status.
If you don't have everything at once, upload what you have. You can return to the same link later to upload more documents, as long as your link is still active.
Most portals accept the following file types:
Tips for better uploads:
You're usually finished when:
Your tax professional may still reach out if they have questions or need additional information, but this gives them what they need to start your return.
Your secure link is unique to you. It is designed to make it easier and safer to send documents than email or text. Do not share your link publicly or post it online.
If you suspect someone else has access to your link, contact your tax professional right away and ask for a new link.
Email is less organized and can be less secure. The upload portal keeps everything in one place and makes it easier for your tax professional to work through your file.
Upload what you have now. You can return and add missing documents later, as long as your link is still active.
Upload the correct file and, if possible, let your tax professional know which one to use. They will review your documents before preparing your return.
Your link may have expired or been copied incorrectly. Contact your tax professional and ask them to send a new link.
If you are having trouble using your portal, reply to the email or message that sent you the link, or contact your tax professional directly. Let them know:
This portal is here to make your life easier and to help your tax professional do great work for you with less back-and-forth. Thank you for using the secure upload system.
